A Crash Course In Photography

Course Information

These days there is a lot of information available for both new photography enthusiasts and also for seasoned professionals if you know where to look. How do you know what information is valid and useful to you and what is subjective or just plain misleading? You can enroll in a college or university and then spend the next few years paying that off. Or you can figure it out on your own and maybe take some workshops or try and find a mentor that has the time to teach you.

What if there was a course that taught you everything important from the very basics right through composition, technology, post procesing and even the business side of things leaving you ready to start your own photography business?

Aduro Photography has put together a no nonsense crash course that will lead you through the world of photography from the very beginning right through to the nuts and bolts of running a business. We leave out all the fluff and candy and get right down to the core principles. The entire course is focused on teaching you the key elements of every aspect of photography that you NEED to know in order to become a successful photographer.

Want to learn intense detail about how a camera shutter works? How about the different types of digital image sensors and how each "pixel site" captures light and translates it to voltage information that can be reproduced through complex algorithms and mathmatics into a digital image? If you do then you are more than welcome to look that up on Wikipedia when you have time. We don't have time for that stuff because it won't make you a better photographer and will not help you start a business. Sure it is super interesting but not much value unless you want to get a job making digital image sensors or lens guts.

Course Structure

This course has been designed to be more or less self-paced with some group elements. The key information is accomplished through online sections that contain actual assignments that involve you taking photographs and submitting them to your instructor along with verbiage about what you learned and how you accomplished the photos.

In addition there will be a series of hands-on workshops, photo walks, and even a course project that all the students will collaborate on for a real commercial business application.

Perhaps one of the biggest value aspects of the course is access to your instructor to critique your photography through the course and long after. Yes, that's right... as a student of this course you will be able to submit images to your instructor for honest feedback that you can use to improve your skills and that does not end once the course is over.

Prerequsits and Requirements

What you will need to take this course is pretty simple...

  • A camera that supports a FULL MANUAL mode (preferably a DSLR)
  • A computer with an Internet connection.
  • An Email Address that you can send and receive email with. (Check out GMail if you don't have your own email address yet)
  • A willingness to learn.
  • A desire to have fun.
  • Oh... and some money to pay for the course ;)

Cost

We are currently embarking on the FIRST run of this course (beginning on Sunday November 20th, 2011) and therefore we are having a special introductory price of $200.00

If you are unable to take the course right now it will be offered again in the new year but the price will be significantly higher.
